Residents urged to apply for free central heating this winter as freezing temperatures hit

Residents who don’t have central heating are being urged to apply for funding to cover a brand new installation as freezing weather hits Great Britain this winter.

With snow forecast by the Met Office, residents who are struggling to heat their property this month should consider upgrading their heating system to look after their health..

In certain areas. the Warm Homes Fund scheme is providing eligible homeowners and private renting tenants an A-rated central heating system for free, if they are currently using inefficient storage heaters, room heaters or fires.

There is also separate funding available to cover the cost of a gas connection where applicable subject to survey and eligibility.

Mains gas central heating will allow residents benefitting from the scheme to stay warmer whilst saving on their fuel bills. Gas central heating is three to four times cheaper than electric heating.

To qualify for the funding, residents must either be in receipt of certain state benefits, or have a household income below £21,000 and live in a property that is hard to heat.

Householders with certain health conditions that make them vulnerable to the effects of living in a cold home could also receive support.

The Warm Homes Fund is an innovative £150m funding stream established by National Grid and administered by Affordable Warmth Solutions to help make households in Great Britain warmer, healthier and cheaper to heat.

Residents who are interested in the opportunity are advised to call YES Energy Solutions on 01422 880100.
