Hertfordshire WHF Central Heating Scheme

Hertfordshire Warm Homes Fund Central Heating Scheme

Summary

YES Energy Solutions is managing the Hertfordshire Warm Homes Fund central heating scheme, helping 100 householders slash their energy bills across Hertsmere, East Herts and North Hertfordshire.

Scheme in detail

In November 2018 we secured funding through National Grid’s Warm Homes Fund programme to install fully funded gas powered central heating systems in 100 eligible households.

Working in partnership with North Hertfordshire District Council, East Herts Borough Council and Hertsmere District Council, we are helping householders access energy efficient central heating for the first time.

Compared to electricity, mains gas is 3-4 times cheaper to use, therefore this scheme will not only improve thermal comfort of homes but help residents save energy and money.

Eligible residents may be able to receive:

  • A-rated gas powered condensing combination boiler
  • Radiators in every living space
  • Thermostatic radiator values (TRVs)
  • Wireless digital programmer

This scheme works on a first come first served basis.

Are you eligible?

Homeowners and private renters in North Hertfordshire, Hertsmere or East Herts could join the scheme if they meet the following eligibility criteria:

The property has no radiators (e.g. uses inefficient storage heaters, room heaters or fires as the main heating source) and must be close to other properties on the mains gas network.

And

The resident receives one or more of the following state benefits:

  • Pension Guarantee
  • Credit Attendance Allowance
  • Income Based Job Seekers Allowance
  • Carer's Allowance
  • Income Support
  • Severe Disablement Allowance
  • Income Related Employment & Support Allowance
  • Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit
  • Working Tax Credit
  • War Pensions Mobility Supplement
  • Child Tax Credit
  • Constant Attendance Allowance
  • Universal Credit
  • Armed Forces Independence Payment
  • Disability Living Allowance
  • Child Benefit (income thresholds apply)
  • Personal Independence Payment

Or

The resident meets the criteria set out in their council's Statement of Intent (SoI):

SoI criteria summary

The criteria in each of the three SoI’s are similar, but we advise that residents check the criteria that relates to their council before applying.

Typically, if you have a household income below a certain threshold and don’t have working central heating, then you are likely to qualify.

Residents on low incomes with specific health conditions or vulnerabilities can also qualify for support.

Qualifying residents that rent their properties will be able to take part providing their landlord provides a small contribution towards the cost of the works.

The funding

The scheme is supported by funding secured from National Grid’s Warm Homes Fund programme – an innovative funding stream established to help make households in Great Britain warmer, healthier and cheaper to heat. The fund is administered by Affordable Warmth Solutions.

Each of the councils are contributing match funding to the scheme and we are also bringing in Energy Company Obligation (ECO) funding to support installations.

Any required gas connections will be funded through Cadent as part of the Fuel Poverty Network Extension Scheme.

Our role

YES Energy Solutions are managing the scheme on behalf of the three councils. We will be registering interest from householders, validating eligibility and managing installations through our accredited installer network.
