Scheme In Detail

We are helped over 150 eligible residents in the Ryedale, Scarborough, Hambleton and Richmondshire districts, transform their heating facilities with the installation of fully funded gas-powered central heating systems.

The project was fronted by North Yorkshire County Council, who secured funding through National Grid’s Warm Homes Fund programme. Ryedale District Council, Scarborough Borough Council, Hambleton District Council and Richmondshire District Council also provided match funding and we added value through our ECO funding facilities.

There was also funding available for gas connections via Northern Gas Networks, providing residents met the eligibility criteria and lived close to other properties on the mains gas network.

The scheme aimed to reduce fuel poverty in the area by helping a host of vulnerable residents reap the benefits of gas powered central heating.

What was included?

The North Yorks Warm Homes Scheme covered the installation of:

• An energy efficient, mains gas condensing combination boiler with two year warranty
• Radiators in every living space
• Thermostatic controls and a wireless digital programmer

Who benefited from the scheme

There was over 150 installations for residents across the districts who benefited from the North Yorkshire Warm Homes Fund Scheme.

This has resulted in savings of over £1.6m in the fuel bills of residents who have taken part in the scheme.

Peter Benson's story

Self-employed fencer Peter Benson from Thirsk was struggling to stay warm in his old house, however, a new fully funded A-rated gas central heating system ended his woes.

Peter was relying on an open fire in the living room for warmth, until he came across the North Yorkshire Warm Homes Fund scheme online and decided to apply.

“I was so happy when I found out it was fully funded because I’d never had central heating in my life, I was made up.”

Peter received a gas connection and an extensive A-rated central heating system for his large inefficient house.

“I could never have done it on my own without the scheme because the system I needed was so big, I couldn’t afford it.

“But thanks to YES Energy Solutions and the council I could get the system, I think it’s a brilliant scheme, I really do."

Award Winning

The scheme led to us winning Energy Management Project of the Year at the prestigious EDIE awards.

One of only a handful of SME's on the night, YES triumphed over the likes of large corporations Aviva, UK Power Networks and Powerstar.
