YES Energy Solutions’ SHEQ Compliance Administrator - ThomasHoyle, has been named ‘Green Champion of the Year’ at the Halifax BusinessAwards for his outstanding contribution to reducing the company’s carbon footprint.

Thomas was commended for his pro-active approach to adopting environmental processes and encouraging green behaviour in the workplace.

The Halifax Business Awards demonstrates the great work achieved by organisations and individuals across Calderdale. A multitude of companies spanning a diverse range of industry sectors came together to celebrate their latest achievements, with BBC’s Harry Gration making an appearance to announce the winners.

Thomas was one of 12 attendees to take home a trophy, noted for his commitment to sustainability, including establishing environmental policies for colleagues to adhere to, and adopting guidelines to ensure only the most efficient and environmentally friendly equipment is utilised in our office.

Thomas was delighted with the achievement. He explained:

“Our company goal centres on our social conscience regarding the environment, but as our workforce continues to grow in size it’s important that our green thinking doesn’t focus only on the work we do externally.

"If colleagues share a car on their journey to work, that has the potential to take four cars off the road for that day.

"The fact that the whole office now operates from laptops is saving around 80% in energy costs per system compared to when we worked from desktop computers! The little changes we can make are just as important as the big.”

This is the second Green Champion award connected to YESEnergy Solutions. We came out on top in the same category last year, having demonstrated our commitment to helping thousands of householders slash their carbon emissions through funded home insulation and heating upgrades.

It was Thomas’ drive for well managed internal environmental practises that gave us the edge this year.

YES EnergySolutions has won four industry awards in the past nine months, including 'Team of the Year' in October at the Women in Housing Awards. In September we were crowned 'FundingProvider of the Year' at the National Energy Efficiency Awards. Prior to that, our partnership with Redditch Borough Council was awarded ‘Large Scale Project of the Year’ at the 2018 West Midlands Energy EfficiencyAwards.
