Teignbridge Park Home Insulation Pilot

Teignbridge Pilot

Summary

YES Energy Solutions worked in partnership with EDF Energy and Teignbridge District Council to develop a Park Home Insulation Pilot scheme.

Scheme In Detail

The pilot scheme was delivered through Teignbridge DistrictCouncil’s new ECO flexibility criteria, in which their Statement of Intent widens the pool of eligible residents who may not otherwise qualify for ECO funding.

As a pilot scheme, the project took months of planning and communications before the installation of External Wall Insulation (EWI) on 12park homes across three park home sites in South Devon was implemented through ECO funding secured by EDF Energy.

YES Energy Solutions was appointed to project manage the installs completed by industry-accredited installers, SFP Contracts. The EWI installs were applied to properties which mostly had no insulation, meaning residents struggled with overheating in summer and experienced cold homes in winter.

The average customer contribution for an EWI installation is between £3,000-£5,000, and most residents suggested that they would not have been able to afford this cost without ECO funding from EDF Energy.

The impact

Following the completion of the installations, residents from the park homesites described the finished look of their properties:

“Before I applied for the scheme, the park home got cold very quickly due to its construction of thin wood. The schedule was well communicated and even began earlier than expected which was a nice surprise. There was no disruption to my home and I was happy with the time it took to complete the insulation works. I have lived in this home for 6 years with no insulation ,and I can definitely feel the benefits.”
Mr Basham, Summerlands Court resident
“My home was built in 1975 and was very cold in winter so was in need of some improvements. The installation from start to finish was completed within a week; I am delighted with the new look of my home and I have noticed the benefits already as I don’t need to put the fire on in the evening anymore. I’ve also noticed a change on warmer days too – after I returned from holiday I expected my home to be too hot after the sun had been out all day but it was surprisingly cool!”
Mrs Clewes, Five Acres resident

Speaking at completion of the pilot scheme, Mark Dallen atEDF Energy said:

“The response from every park home owner we contacted has been very positive.

“It’s clear to see that the residents were enjoying the benefits of their installations, and later this year when the Autumn and Winter months approach, the real benefits of having a warmer home will be even more apparent.”

Following the success of the scheme, there is potential for the extension of the funded energy saving installations under the ECO3 phase.
