Scheme In Detail

Householders across Ryedale in North Yorkshire can access grants and loans for home insulation, boiler upgrades and central heating improvements.

The Ryedale Energy Saver Scheme is a project delivered by YES Energy Solutions on behalf of Ryedale District Council.

Homeowners and private renting tenants in the Ryedale district can access a range of support to help keep warm and slash their energy bills.

Energy saving grants and loans for Ryedale residents

If you own or rent a home in Ryedale, then we could help you access a grant or a loan to improve its energy efficiency (Subject to survey). The following funding and finance opportunities are available (you may qualify for one or more of the following):

Ryedale District Council Energy Efficiency Grant
Measures available: - Cavity Wall Insulation - Loft Insulation - Room in Roof Insulation - Gas Boiler Replacements - Central Heating Systems	Eligibility Criteria: Homeowners and private renting tenants on a low household income (£31,000 a year or less after housing costs) or those that claim income related benefits (such as Income Support or Housing Benefit). Must have lived in the property for three years or over. Heating improvements are only available to homeowners in dwellings with a Council Tax band of A, B or C.
ECO Help to Heat Grant (ECO)
Measures available: - Cavity Wall Insulation - Loft Insulation - Room in Roof Insulation - External Wall Insulation - Gas Boiler Replacement - Central Heating Systems	Eligibility Criteria: Homeowners and private renting tenants on specific state benefits (such as Pension Credit or Child Tax Credit). Vulnerable residents as classified by Ryedale Council under the council's criteria here.
Ryedale Council Property Involvement Loan
Measures available: - Cavity Wall Insulation - Loft Insulation - Room in Roof Insulation - Gas Boiler Replacement - Central Heating Systems This loan can also be used for other home improvements such as crime prevention measures and electrical safety repairs.	Eligibility Criteria: Homeowners aged 18 or over on a low household income (£31,000 or less after housing costs) or those that claim income related benefits (such as Income Support or Housing Benefit). Must have lived in the property for three years or over.
Loan details: Loans of up to £7,500 available. An administration fee of 7.5% is added to the loan, then no further interest to pay. Loans are repayable in full after a 10 year period - early repayment options are available. All loans are subject to an assessment undertaken by Ryedale District Council.

1. Call the Ryedale Energy Saver Helpline on: 0330 053 5631

2. Find out what energy saving measures are most appropriate for your home

3. The team will confirm if you are eligible for any grants and/or loans under the scheme

4. A home assessment will be arranged so we can determine how much funding we can claim

5. You receive a quote for the work including your grant or loan allocation

6. Upon approval of the quote, your home improvements are installed and you start saving energy straight away!

The Hazels - Gas Boiler Replacement

As part of the Ryedale Energy Saver Scheme, Margaret Hazel and her husband received a fully funded brand new A-rated combi-boiler and full central heating system to replace their old inefficient 30-year-old boiler.

The capital for the Hazel’s fully funded upgrades were secured by YES Energy Solutions from the Government’s ECO Scheme, with the shortfall made up by Ryedale District Council providing additional funds from their Energy Efficiency Grant.

Margaret said:

"We’ve noticed a big difference, it’s just lovely to have hot water and heat there all the time, it’s just marvellous. “We were very pleased when we found out it was fully funded because we wouldn’t have been able to pay for it, so it was just fantastic.”
