YES Energy Solutions is working in partnership with Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council to help Park Home residents embrace the benefits of renewable energy technology.
Scheme In Detail
In November 2015, we won funding though the Technical Innovation Fund to install Air to Air Heat Pumps in 30 Park Homes in the area.
The Technical Innovation Fund was part of a £26.2 million Health and Innovation Programme designed and administered by National Energy Action (NEA), the national fuel poverty charity. It aimed to bring affordable warmth to over 6000 fuel poor and vulnerable households in England, Wales and Scotland.
The fund enabled community-level trials of innovative solutions using measures that are not traditionally used within the scope of current fuel poverty and energy efficiency programmes.
Park Homes are one of the least energy efficient property types. Many of them are situated off the main gas network and have virtually no insulation. Residents rely on expensive sources of fuel to heat their homes, meaning that many of them run the risk of living in fuel poverty.
Until recently, funding for energy efficiency improvements in Park Homes has been few and far between. For several months YES Energy Solutions and Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council explored options to help Park Home owners reduce their fuel bills.
Having won funding through NEA, we finally were able to offer an economical option to help Park Home residents improve their home’s heating facilities with Air to Air Heat Pumps.
As a renewable energy technology, Air to Air Heat Pumps transform air from outside the house into usable domestic heat. They act like a refrigerator, but in reverse.
The project started in December 2015 at Attwood Close – a large Park Home site owned by the Council.
As part of the scheme, NEA monitored the impact that the heat pumps have on the resident’s lifestyles. That included measuring fuel bills savings, comfort levels and the pump’s heat producing capabilities.
The main purpose of the Technical Innovation Fund was to offer innovative solutions to fuel poverty in the UK.
Our Heat Pumps for Park Homes scheme won ‘Collaboration of the Year’ at the Worchester Bosch Environment 2020 awards. Representatives of YES Energy Solutions and our installer partner Payne’s Heating and Plumbing Ltd attended the prestigious awards ceremony in Malvern on the 1st June 2016.
