Scheme In Detail

YES Energy Solutions joined the scheme in October 2015 which focussed on helping vulnerable residents across Doncaster and Sheffield to improve their home heating facilities and slash their energy bills.

Doncaster Council identified residents that are living in fuel poverty - many of whom couldn't afford to heat their properties, so take drastic measures to keep warm (such as living in a single room huddled round an electric heater wrapped up in blankets).

This scheme tackled fuel poverty at the source and help residents access affordable and energy efficient heating facilities so that they are no longer paying over the odds on fuel.

Funding

The Doncaster Central Heating Scheme consisted of two funding sources:

The Central Heating Fund – a pot of money secured by Doncaster Council (in partnership with Sheffield City Council) from the Department of Energy and Climate Change. This fund supported vulnerable residents that didn't have central heating in their homes and relied on old inefficient systems, such as old fashioned electric storage heaters to keep warm.

Boilers on Prescription Funding – an innovative scheme managed through the NHS’ Clinical Commissioning Group whereby eligible householders were referred for boiler upgrades via health professionals.

The Doncaster Central Heating Scheme in partnership with Doncaster Council was Highly Commended at the Yorkshire and Humberside Energy Efficiency Awards.

Our Involvement

YES Energy Solutions managed all elements of the customer journey. We processed the referrals from the Council, booked in survey appointments and carryed out the heating installs via our industry accredited contracting network.

What’s more, due to our established links with major utilities, we secured funding through the Energy Company Obligations (ECO) Scheme to support the installations. By taking a blended funding approach, more residents were able to benefit and the Doncaster Central Heating Scheme has a broader reach.
