YES Energy Solutions' publish fuel poverty study for North Yorkshire Apr 11, 2019
YES Energy Solutions conducted an in-depth study to identify householders with no central heating that are most likely to be living in fuel poverty in North Yorkshire.
The in-depth research was commissioned by Northern Gas Networks on behalf of Citizens Advice Mid-North Yorkshire to identify fuel poor households with no central heating facilities in seven Local Authority areas which are Craven, Hambleton, Harrogate, Richmondshire, Ryedale, Scarborough and Selby.
YES Energy Solutions used their expertise amassed from managing countless energy efficiency schemes to help Citizens Advice Mid-North Yorkshire and partner Councils gain a better understanding of fuel poverty levels in their areas.
Additionally, the study aids understanding of where central heating measures could be implemented and funded via various national fuel poverty alleviation funds.
Potential for gas connections through the Fuel Poverty Network Extension
Scheme (FPNES) was identified, as well as the potential for funded central heating systems through the Home Heating Cost Reduction
Obligation (HHCRO) and Warm Homes Fund (WHF).
Publicly available data sets were utilised, as well as Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) and pipeline mapping data provided by Northern Gas Networks.
The study found that there is potential for funded gas connections and central heating installs across all areas, however there was variance in the amount of opportunities identified.
The detailed report breaks down the findings by district, and further divides this into urban and rural areas.
