The Great British Insulation Scheme, explained May 02, 2023

The Great British Insulation Scheme, formerly known as ECO+, aims to improve the energy efficiency of homes across the UK.

Providing funding for home energy upgrades, the scheme supports low income households with properties of a low Energy Performance Certificate D-G.

The scheme applies to those in council tax bands A-D (or A-E for Scotland and Wales).

It fills in the gaps of support by helping those who haven't had otherwise had installations from the ECO4 or other Government funding streams.

The focus is on low-cost measures, such as:

  • cavity wall insulation
  • external and internal wall insulation
  • loft insulation

Rather than ECO4's more comprehensive installations, which can often be time, individual measures through the Great British Insulation Scheme can assist lots of households in a short amount of time by offering single-measure solutions.

An estimated £310 a year can be saved on annual energy bills, according to the Government, from the retrofit of measures available in the scheme.
