Staff spotlight: Life as a new starter at YES Oct 19, 2022

Before you do, read on to hear from one of our Advice Administrators, Lyla.

Lyla started by giving us a little bit about herself.

"I'm from Lindley.

"I study psychology and astro-physics in my spare time and have been to some of Brian Cox's lectures before Covid.

"I go to London a lot because my friends live there.

"Oh, and I used to have a little online shop where I made and sold my own clothes.

"My favourite colour is burnt orange and my favourite drink is gin- only if it's flavoured though!"

She then went on to tell us her first impressions of working with the YES team.

"Everyone has been lovely and supportive from day one. They're great people, so open, and they always ask if you're okay.

"I was surprised by how much there is to find out about. When I applied, I thought it was similar to jobs I've had before, but it's so different and varied."

Next, she explained what she's been up to so far in the energy advice team.

"I've been here about a month, and I've been given lots of training.

"I'm currently contacting customers to see if they meet qualifying criteria and inputting their details.

"I've also just started working on the qualification process, where I guide customers through the eligibility process and make sure they understand how to submit information we need."

She finished off by giving some advice to someone just starting at YES.

"Don't worry- there's a lot to learn but it will all click.

"You're not rushed, everyone's there to support you and get you to where you need to be in your own time."
