Katie Crowned Heat Hero Jan 29, 2019

Katie the Heat Hero

Our Head of Operations, Katie Baker, has been crowned a Heat Hero at the House of Commons for her commitment to helping vulnerable residents keep warm for less.

During the 2017-18 financial year Katie developed 16 energy efficiency projects across Great Britain, saving residents over £37,000,000 in lifetime fuel bills.

She was also responsible for securing key delivery contracts which has helped us improved the energy efficiency of over 4,500 homes.

The award comes after an outstanding 12 months for YES Energy Solutions, with our recent award wins including ‘Green Champion of the Year’ at The Halifax Courier Business Awards, and ‘Funding Provider of the Year’ at the National Energy Efficiency Awards.

Duncan McCombie, the Chief Executive at YES Energy Solutions, said:

“Katie Baker is an asset to the YES team. Her determination has been pivotal in the company’s drive to make a difference for an ever-increasing number of people in fuel poverty, ensuring they have a cosy home.”
“Katie consistently exceeds expectations, connecting the company to a broad range of proactive organisations who share our drive to cut carbon and fight fuel poverty.”

The Heat Hero awards is an annual event that celebrates individuals that have made a significant commitment to reducing fuel poverty across the UK. They are hosted by the national fuel poverty charity, NEA in partnership with the boiler manufacturer Vaillant.

Katie was one of 17 winners from over 50 nominations. NEA selected her due to her dedication to supporting vulnerable residents, ensuring as many people as possible benefit from funding towards an energy saving installation.
