Affordable home energy saving improvements are now available to hundreds of householders thanks to two new Government initiatives – the Green Deal and the ECO scheme (Energy Company Obligation).

Green Deal and ECO work together to enable residents to make their home's more energy efficient without breaking the bank. Both schemes are designed to save you money on your fuel bills, especially during the winter months.

ECO draws funding from the Big Six Energy Providers who are obliged by law to support people on lower incomes and help them achieve affordable warmth. As part of the ECO scheme, any householder (irrespective of personal circumstances) can now apply for a grant for external wall insulation (subject to survey).

The Green Deal on the other hand offers residents the chance to access a new type of finance package to cover or contribute towards any installation costs. By taking out a Green Deal loan, householders can dramatically reduce or even remove any upfront costs. Residents can effectively pay as they save as their loan repayments are linked to their energy bills.

Green Deal and ECO are designed to work together so that any grants or finance combined can help people make affordable energy saving home improvements.
