YES Energy Solutions are working alongside gas distribution network SGN to provide thousands of pounds of funding via the Help to Heat scheme for certain residents to connect to gas and receive A-rated central heating.
The Connect Our Community campaign is calling on people to
help their friends, family and neighbours who are off gas this winter by
referring them to the Help to Heat scheme.
Residents currently using electric storage heaters, coal or
wood burners could save hundreds of pounds per year with a new energy efficient
heating system as electric costs £0.17 per kWh of heat compared to £0.04 per
kWh of heat from gas.
A-rated central heating can improve the thermal comfort of
homes and contributes to health and wellbeing.
Householders who receive certain benefits or have a low
household income in relation to their energy bills may qualify for funding.
In addition, residents will be eligible for funding if they
are on a low income and are elderly, have young children, or have certain
health conditions.
SGN have appointed award-winning community interest company
YES Energy Solutions to manage the scheme and assess customers for available
funding.
Marie Jones, Fuel Poverty Stakeholder Engagement Manager at
SGN, said:
“If you or someone you know
might struggle to stay affordably warm this winter, our Help to Heat scheme may
be able to help and we’d urge you to get in touch.
“Through our Help to
Heat scheme, we can help residents connect to a more affordable fuel to make
their homes warmer and more comfortable.
“For households
relying on solid fuel or electric storage heaters, the Help to Heat scheme is a
route to cheaper fuel bills from a more efficient heating system.”
Residents who think they may be eligible, or know someone off gas, are advised to call the Help to Heat team on freephone 0800 015 5174 or contact us online.
