Award Winners – Environment 2020 Awards Jun 01, 2016

E2020 Awards

YES Energy Solutions has won a Worcester Bosch Environment 2020 Award for an exciting new renewable heating initiative.

On the 1st June, we were commended by industry chiefs for our innovative Heat Pumps for Park Homes scheme in Basingstoke.

We won ‘Collaboration of the Year’ for our proactive partnership with Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council and Sussex based installers, Paynes Heating and Plumbing ltd.

Heat Pumps for Park Homes

In 2015 YES Energy Solutions was awarded funding to transform the heating facilities of up to 30 Park Homes, all of which were off the mains gas network.

By their nature as temporary structures, Park Homes are some of the least energy efficient properties in the UK. Many are fitted with old fashioned and inefficient heating systems such as bottled gas boilers and electric room heaters.

These expensive systems impact on resident fuel bills and many Park Home owners run the risk of living in fuel poverty.

To counteract this, YES Energy Solutions teamed up with Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council, who own a Park Home site near the town centre. Funding was claimed to install Air to Air Heat Pumps throughout the park.

An Air to Air Heat Pump is a renewable energy technology that acts like a refrigerator in reverse – it transforms air from outside the property into heat. Residents are now enjoying low cost and low carbon heating.

The project is still on going and the next phase of installations will start in July 2016.

Technical Innovation Fund

The funding for the scheme comes from a GB-wide programme designed and administered by NEA, the national fuel poverty charity. The Technical Innovation Fund aims to facilitate community-level trials of innovative solutions utilising measures that are not traditionally used within the scope of current fuel poverty and retrofit energy efficiency programmes.

Award Winners

The Worcester Bosch Environment 2020 Awards celebrate those that have made a commitment to tackling Climate Change.

As one of the largest heating products manufacturers in the UK, Worcester Bosch rewards organisations, community groups and installers who have demonstrated commitment to cutting CO2.

YES Energy Solutions attended the awards ceremony at the beautiful Stanbrook Abbey Hotel near Malvern on 1st June.

It was a fantastic day and a great opportunity to showcase the results of such a positive and innovative community project.
