Pat, a resident of Malton, had been using an old oil boiler for heating. During its last service, she was told it needed replacing. She knew a change was necessary, especially as she was also dealing with rising energy costs.
“I had an old boiler; the last time it was serviced I was told it was old and needed replacing. I used to use oil too, so I knew I needed to get it changed at some point.
“I initially reached out to Citizens Advice for some advice on help with my energy bills whilst I have been out of work. They gave me a list of places to go to. One of them was about heating systems on the North Yorkshire Council’s website. That’s where I found the information about the Home Upgrade Grant and YES Energy Solutions.”
Installation experience
Pat described the process as very easy and much quicker than expected.
“It was all very easy and very quick. I can’t speak highly enough of YES. Everyone I have spoken to was so lovely. The team over the phones were polite and professional.
“The lads who came and did the work were thorough, polite and professional, but we also had a laugh.
“I didn’t quite expect the upheaval needed, but the lads who were fitting it were fantastic at returning everything back to normal, putting the carpets back down, and they thoroughly cleaned up after themselves. I just left them to it; I trusted them implicitly. And it was all done over two days.”
After the installation
Since the installation, Pat has noticed a clear improvement in the warmth of her home. While it’s still early to measure the full financial impact, she’s already saving money by no longer using oil, and she’s glad to be rid of the smell that came with it.
“I can already tell a difference. I can notice the change in heat and the warmth, and it’s so nice. It’s a bit too early to tell financially how much it’s helping, but I’m already saving money on the oil, and it doesn’t smell of oil.”
Pat encourages others to apply, saying the online process was simple and submitting photos and documents was straightforward.
“Don’t be afraid to apply for it. It was really easy and really quick to apply online. Sending over a few pics and the evidence was again so easy.”
