A household in Todmorden had already taken steps to improve their home’s energy efficiency. Solar panels installed through earlier support using the HUG2 scheme were helping to reduce electricity costs, delivering an estimated £435 saving each year. The install also improved the customers EPC rating from a low E to a D.
Despite this progress, the home was still losing heat, particularly through the loft. Rising energy costs continued to put pressure on the household budget, making it difficult to stay warm and comfortable during colder months.
About the project
Support was delivered through the Calderdale Crisis Fund, a council-funded project designed to help residents facing financial pressure by funding practical improvements to their homes.
The project focuses on removing cost as a barrier, ensuring households can access essential energy efficiency upgrades that improve comfort and reduce ongoing energy costs.
The support provided
Following an assessment, loft insulation was identified as the most effective next step for the property. While earlier improvements had delivered clear benefits, the cost of further work would have been a barrier for the household.
Through the Calderdale Crisis Fund, the full cost of the loft insulation installation (£4,000) was covered by YES Energy Solutions and Calderdale council, allowing the work to go ahead without any financial contribution from the resident.
