Chris, who lives alone in Wales, has experienced a decline in his health over recent years and is now receiving financial support due to being unable to work.
“I never expected that I would need help in my life, but now that I’m out of work due to ill health, I find myself in need of help. My health can be aggravated when the weather is cold, and I’ve been in debt with my suppliers due to them costing too much and my income being so low – I’ve been worried about answering the door due to my debts in the past.”
Chris reached out for support and was able to access help through the YES Energy Support Fund. A direct payment was made to his energy suppliers, helping to reduce his fuel debt and ease some of the financial pressure he had been facing.
Alongside this, Chris received an energy support pack through the post. This included practical advice and tools designed to help him build habits that could reduce his ongoing energy usage and costs at home.
“The staff were absolutely perfect. I had a very lovely lady on the phone who managed to qualify me straight away for the financial support. And the pack is great – and I know my friend has also received theirs!”
As part of the support, Chris was also given tailored advice over the phone to help him manage his energy use more effectively. By putting these simple changes into practice, it is estimated that Chris could save up to £800 a year on the cost of heating his home.
“So thank you for the help. I hope you can help others like me in these kinds of situations.”
