West Sussex Affordable Warmth Scheme

YES Energy Solutions worked with West Sussex County Council to help residents across the county access fully funded and part funded energy saving home improvements.

Scheme In Detail

Launched in January 2018, the West Sussex Affordable Warmth Scheme was designed to help homeowners and private renting tenants save both energy and money.

Residents could access funding to cover or contribute towards a broad range of heating and insulation upgrades.

The scheme provided a number of funding opportunities available to help householders improve their thermal comfort.

The West Sussex Affordable Warmth Scheme used funding secured through the Government’s Energy Company Obligation (ECO) programme for heating and insulation measures.

There was different eligibility criteria depending on what improvement you require (see below).

ECO Criteria:

Home Improvement Eligibility Criteria
- Loft Insulation
- Cavity Wall Insulation
- External Wall Insulation
- Homeowner or private renting tenant

And

- The house is technically suitable for the work

Please note that a higher funding allocation is available for insulation measures if you receive income related benefits (see below).
- Boiler Upgrade (Gas, Oil, LPG)
- First time Central Heating System
- Electric Storage Heaters
- Homeowner or private renting tenant

And

- Receive one or more of the following state benefits:

Pension Guarantee Credit
Income Based Job Seekers Allowance
Income Support
Income Related Employment & Support Allowance
Working Tax Credit or Child Tax Credit*
Universal Credit*

*Income thresholds apply

or

Have a low household income and live in a property with a poor energy efficiency rating and have a health condition made worse by living in a cold home (contact YES Energy Solutions for further details).

or

Have a low household income and live in a property with a poor energy efficiency rating and are over 65 years of age, or have a child under 5 years of age, or are a pregnant woman (contact YES Energy Solutions for further details).


Additional Funding

Extra funding was supplied by each Local Authority to support the cost of energy saving installations. In many cases the work was fully funded if additional Council funding was applied.

The West Sussex Affordable Warmth Scheme was available in the following district Council areas:

  • Arun District Council
  • Chichester District Council
  • Horsham District Council
  • Crawley Borough Council
  • Mid Sussex District Council
  • Adur District Council
  • Worthing Borough Council
