High Aims partnership

High Aims partnership with YES Energy Solutions

Summary

YES Energy Solutions is working in partnership with High Aims Ltd to deliver gas connections to vulnerable residents through the Fuel Poverty Network Extension Scheme (FPNES).

Scheme in detail

High Aims works with housing associations to connect householders to the mains gas network, and have partnered up with YES Energy Solutions to facilitate funding.

Eligible householders across the country who could benefit from connecting to the gas network are being identified in the scheme.

Funding for qualifying residents is secured from gas distribution networks Cadent, Southern Gas Networks, Northern Gas Networks and Wales and West Utilities through the FPNES.

The FPNES enables householders to connect to the mains gas network by offering funding towards the costs.

The scheme operates through the distribution of fuel poverty vouchers, allowing householders to benefit from gas - a more cost-effective, affordable domestic fuel.

Residents that use electric heating, LPG or oil to heat their homes are much more likely to have higher fuel costs, so by switching to mains gas, they could save hundreds of pounds on their energy bills every year and stay warm for less.

Our involvement

We are guiding residents through the validation stage by collecting qualifying documentation to apply for the FPNES voucher, as well as handling any queries or concerns along the way.

In available cases we are contributing ECO funding and help from other funding pots alongside the FPNES, to increase the amount of financial help that customers can receive.

The scheme has developed partnerships with several housing associations, such as the relationship with Metropolitan Thames Valley Housing Association which led to 500 properties in Brixton to connect to the gas network.

We facilitated £1.1 million of funding to the Brixton site, with FPNES funding supplied by SGN.

Eligibility criteria

Residents may be eligible if they live in fuel poverty – calculated on the low income high costs indicator in England. If the household has an income below the official poverty line when fuel costs are deducted, they may be eligible for funding.

Alternatively, residents may qualify under the Home Heating Cost Reduction Obligation (HHCRO). Residents in receipt of benefits may be eligible under this criteria which can be viewed in full here.
