Since the scheme began in January 2014, the team improved the look and feel of a multitude of Almondbury homes. The external wall insulation not only strengthened the thermal efficiency of these properties, but brightened up the whole estate.

Local resident, Alan Douglas was delighted with the work and encouraged his friends and neighbours to make the investment. He explained:

"Getting the work done has made such a difference. The whole appearance of the house has changed for the better. It really has been an asset…I couldn’t recommend getting the walls done high enough to anybody. It’s absolutely brilliant."

Angela Berry, another Almondbury homeowner, was also amazed with the transformation of her home since the external insulation was applied. She said:

"It used to be so cold in the house. We would put the fire on all the time, even through the summer. Since the walls were done it’s been the opposite…We were really happy with the workmen that came. Very professional, likable lads! I couldn’t have wished for a better set of builders."

To help make external solid wall insulation affordable for Almondbury residents, YES Energy Solutions teamed up with Kirklees Council to offer low cost Energy Help Loans to qualifying householders.

Several residents took advantage of the loan and were able to split their installation costs into flexible monthly payments. Once an initial administration fee was accounted for, householders could pay off their outstanding balance over a number of months with 0% interest.

According to the Energy Saving Trust, the average household could save around £270 - £460 a year if they get external solid wall insulation fitted. Not only will a property feel warmer but look brighter on the outside.
