Working with Wates – Doncaster Insulation Scheme Dec 04, 2014

YES Energy Solutions is supporting a large scale social housing scheme in Doncaster, set to improve the energy efficiency standards of hundreds of homes.

Wates Living Space, in partnership with St Leger Homes have launched an area based initiative to install external wall insulation to properties in the Askern and Bentley areas of the town.

Before any work can start YES Energy Solutions will be carrying out a series of home surveys to check what energy saving measures can be installed. Our Green Deal Assessors are currently contacting residents and producing Energy Performance Certificates to enable construction work to commence in the New Year.

Wates is one of the largest contractors in the UK, specialising in major repairs and maintenance projects. With insulations due to start in January, Wates appointed YES Energy Solutions as their approved sub-contractor to engage residences and kick start the project.

Joanne Jamieson, Regional Managing Director for Wates Living Space, said:

"There is a real focus on improving the energy efficiency of homes across the country and we’re pleased to be working alongside YES Energy Solutions to deliver this initiative in Doncaster. There are many benefits to the scheme, in particular it will help relieve fuel poverty for affected residents. The Energy Performance Certificates produced on the houses this year will allow us to hit the ground running with the upgrades in 2015."

A number of the properties could also be suitable for solar PV installations which could further help residents reduce CO2 by providing free, home-grown electricity. Using specialist mapping software, YES Energy Solutions have started to carry out a series of desktop surveys to identify households that could benefit and the size of PV system that could be fitted.
