Residents not connected to the gas network in Scotland and the south of England may be eligible for funding towards a gas connection and central heating system from gas distribution network SGN.
SGN’s Help to Heat scheme will provide a gas connection which
will be fully funded through the scheme for the majority of eligible residents
that live near a supply.
Residents that currently use electric storage heaters, coal
or wood burners could save hundreds of pounds per year with a new energy
efficient heating system.
Householders who receive certain benefits or have a low
household income in relation to their energy bills may qualify for funding.
In addition, if your council has published qualifying
criteria as part of the Energy Company Obligation (ECO) scheme, you may be
eligible due to individual circumstances such as age or health.
YES Energy Solutions are managing the scheme on behalf of
SGN, and will be assessing customers for available funding.
Marie Jones, Fuel Poverty Stakeholder Engagement Manager at
SGN, said: “If you’re struggling to stay
affordably warm this winter, our Help to Heat scheme may be able to help and we’d
urge you to get in touch.
“Through our Help to
Heat scheme, we can help residents connect to a more affordable fuel to make
their homes warmer and more comfortable.
“For households
relying on solid fuel or electric storage heaters, the Help to Heat scheme is a
route to cheaper fuel bills from a more efficient heating system.”
Residents who think they may be eligible for the scheme are
advised to call our Help to Heat advisors on freephone 0800 015 5174.
