Staff spotlight: Working for YES Sep 12, 2022

We interviewed one of our ECO administrators, Ebony, to see if we could gain some insight into what it is like to work at YES Energy Solutions.

Read on for some behind-the-scenes info on working for YES.

We started by asking her to tell us a bit about herself...

"I'm 25. I hate that, I feel old. I'm from Elland."

"Interests-wise... they're a bit weird and niche, but so am I. I'm starting a collection of old medical books!"

"I love any form of museum or art gallery, my favourite being The Lowry in Manchester. Oh, and I like cars, but don't ask me how to fix them."

Followed by a few quick-fire favourites!

Animal: "Koala."

Snack: "Salted pretzels, specifically the stick-shaped ones. It's important."

Song: "That's a hard one. Currently, my favourite is 'Coming Up Easy' by Paulo Nutini, followed by a close second of 'That's Life' by Frank Sinatra."

We then asked her to tell us about her role and responsibilities.

"I'm an ECO Compliance Officer. I'm in contact with the contractors, supporting them with queries or anything else they may need.

"I maintain the compliance inbox, as well as Ofgem and utility paperwork, just to double-check everything is good to go.

"In terms of the team, we're really collaborative. There's never one person left doing everything.

"A big part of the job is managing your priorities well and being able to take in and input information accurately."

Next, we asked her to tell us her favourite aspects of working for YES.

"Well, you probably already know what I'm going to say, it's the people. There is genuinely a bit of everything in this office.
"I'm trying not to be gushy, but everyone is extremely supportive and they do everything they can to help you out. You're never on your own here, both physically and figuratively."

Finally, she shared some advice for a new starter at YES.

"Sounds cliché, but just be yourself. No matter how weird you think you are, there's always someone weirder in the office!
"As long as you're your authentic self, you'll be fine. You'll quickly learn that people are always joking in this office, and that you shouldn't be afraid to give it back!"

A big thank you to Ebony for taking the time to speak to us.
