Staff dig deep for Calderdale’s Shibden Park

Our employees rolled up their sleeves to prepare parts of Shibden Park for the winter and to be enjoyed by the local community.

Employees took part in a volunteering project led by Calderdale Council’s Safer, Cleaner, Greener team.

Staff gave up their time to take part in the project to remove wilting flowers and prepare the soil for new bedding plants to be put in next year.

Staff learnt new skills whilst helping the council care for the local environment who have had reduced numbers of corporate volunteers during the coronavirus pandemic.

Luke McNeil, who volunteered from YES said: “It’s good to get out into nature especially during these times, and I’m glad I’ve had the opportunity to make the park even more inviting for locals.”

Duncan McCombie, CEO of YES Energy Solutions, said: “I am very proud of my staff who have stepped up to help the local area, particularly during a time where outdoor spaces have become so vital to everyone’s mental health.

“Our enthusiastic employees have learnt new skills and in doing so have improved Shibden Park for local residents to enjoy.

“As a Community Interest Company we aim to get involved in the local community, and this project has been a success in pursuing our purpose and our company mission.”

YES Energy Solutions had previously took part in a similar project at Shaw Park last year and are continuing to help local causes during the pandemic.
