St Albans Warmer Homes Scheme launches for residents to improve their home’s energy efficiency

In partnership with YES Energy Solutions, St Albans City and District Council are making it easier for certain residents to access FREE and LOW COST home energy efficiency improvements such as insulation and brand new A-rated boilers.

The St Albans Warmer Homes scheme accesses the Government’s Energy Company Obligation (ECO) funding to help qualifying residents in the area improve the energy efficiency of their homes and reduce their fuel bills to stay warm for less.

The scheme is focussed on helping householders who have high energy bills in relation to their income as well as those who are particularly vulnerable to the cold.

Residents can qualify for funding through a range of criteria, which includes receiving means tested benefits or being on a low household income with high energy bills.

In addition, elderly residents, those with a young family, pregnant women or residents with a health condition made worse by the cold, could also qualify for funding.

Qualifying residents may be able to receive FREE or LOW COST cavity wall and loft insulation as well as new boilers.

Additional funding may also be available for boiler upgrades if a resident qualifying for the scheme is over 60 and would otherwise be unable to afford the measure.

The St Albans Warmer Homes Scheme is managed by award winning Community Interest Company YES Energy Solutions on behalf of the Council.

Cllr Chris White, Leader of St Albans District Council, said: “With health being on most people’s minds, we are delighted to offer a scheme that can help to improve winter health by helping residents stay comfortably warm all year round. We want to make sure that every resident is safe and warm in their home this winter, whilst also helping to reduce energy use and carbon emissions for our climate. ”

“The scheme will also help residents save money by reducing their energy use with greener and more efficient heating systems and insulation which acts like a blanket around your home.”

“We hope that we can help residents during the troubling times of the pandemic by providing healthier homes to those in need of help.”

Installations will be completed through YES Energy Solutions’ network of industry accredited contractors.

Residents who think that they may qualify for the scheme are advised to call YES Energy Solutions on 01422 880100.
