We have partnered with Smart Energy GB to deliver no-cost smart meter guidance, helping fuel poor Yorkshire residents regain control of their energy usage.
YES is
delivering a comprehensive, campaign across the year, preparing householders
for the switch over by providing free, impartial advice.
Expert teams
from YES are highlighting the benefits of the in-home display, and how
residents can use them to their advantage, with a target to reach 10,000
households from deprived areas.
Residents
who opt in will be unsurprised by their monthly bill, and only pay what is
necessary, as the meter sends regular readings to suppliers.
They will benefit from a seamless, simple display that clearly shows their daily, weekly and monthly energy use – a huge benefit when a householder struggles with costs.
An estimated 7.5 million households are in fuel poverty as of April 2023, with the cost of energy likely to impact the UK for the foreseeable future, according to NEA.
With energy
costs having an undeniable effect on householders, we are urging Yorkshire
organisations to join us in the fight against fuel poverty, and will be
attending events in the area to offer smart meter advice.
YES CEO
Duncan McCombie said: “Millions of households across the UK are feeling a
lack of agency when it comes to their energy usage, and record numbers are reaching
out for help with their finances.
“After
installing a smart meter, energy customers can be certain about their energy
usage and won’t be taken by surprise with higher payments than expected.
“By
banding together and combining resources and knowledge, we take accountability
for what needs to be done – providing householders with practical advice that
matters.”
