The Green Homes Grant Voucher Scheme will close to new applications from householders on Wednesday 31 March at 5pm.
Applications made before the deadline will be honoured and any vouchers already issued can be extended.
The scheme has been rolled out slower than expected and deadlines for the delivery of the measures will be extended.
The scheme only helped 10% of the 600,000 homes promised by the Chancellor when it launched in September 2020.
The Government have released a statement to announce that the £300m previously allocated for the voucher scheme will instead be allocated to Local Authority Delivery (LAD) schemes which target vulnerable households with low incomes.
However, the total amount of money ring-fenced for improving the energy efficiency of domestic properties is being reduced from the £2.5bn announced last summer to just £1.3bn.
The scheme was plagued with issues from the start, with installers initially being overwhelmed with enquiries, compounded by unclear guidance, convoluted processes and payment delays from government.
Initial investigations by the environmental audit committee concluded that the scheme did not create the new green jobs as had been promised, and found some installers had laid off staff due to problems with the scheme.
Although the Green Homes Vouchers will no longer be available, householders in receipt of certain benefits or on low incomes may still be able to receive funding in the form of the Energy Company Obligation (ECO) scheme.
YES Energy Solutions works directly with major Energy Companies and has contracts in place to access ECO funding for eligible customers, and we can check to see if you qualify for any support.
Depending on your circumstances, your property and the energy saving measures you choose, we may find that we can access a grant to cover the majority of the cost of the work.
