There is also an indication the grants will cover double glazing as well.
How much money will I get from the Green Homes Grant?
The vouchers will probably cover two-thirds of the cost of the measure for the majority of householders, up to a limit of £5,000.
This means there will need to be a contribution from the householder, however more support may be available for those on lower incomes.
With relatively little contribution required, residents would be able to save hundreds of pounds in the long run by benefiting from a more energy efficient home.
How can I apply for a Green Homes voucher?
The scheme is set to launch in September, with homeowners able to apply online once the portal is available.
It is still unclear as to who will be able to apply, and the necessary criteria they will be required to meet.
The funding process is also to be revealed, however it is likely that only approved installers will be able to install the measures, and property inspections prior to the vouchers being granted will need to take place - similar to the old Green Deal.
What funding options are available now?
You could get a grant to cover or contribute towards the cost of your home efficiency improvements through the Government’s Energy Company Obligations (ECO) scheme instead.
YES Energy Solutions works directly with major energy companies and has contracts in place to draw down ECO funding for eligible customers. We can check to see if you qualify for any support.
Depending on your circumstances, your property and the energy saving measures you choose, we may find that we can access a grant to cover the majority of the cost of the work.
