Fuel poverty and poor housing conditions

Almost 3.5m UK homes struggling with poor housing conditions.

According to a report published by the Department of Levelling up, Housing and Communities almost 3.5m houses did not meet the Decent Homes Standard (DCT).

Energy efficiency and housing quality go hand in hand, poor housing quality affects energy efficiency and therefore the homes cannot meet the DCT.

In 2020, nearly 941,000 homes had damp with around 3.16m households being fuel poor.

A further 96% of homes with an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) below F or G also failed the DCT.

However, there is help available for those looking, YES has schemes available across England to provide you with fully funded home improvements.

Simply visit our scheme webpage for a full list of what we and the local councils we work with have available.

These improvements range from Insulation to brand new boilers, we also provide smart meter advice and new EPC’s.
