YES Energy Solutions has joined forces with Northern Gas Networks, to help several vulnerable communities make the switch to a more cost effective household fuel.

NGN Gas Connections with a drive to support fuel poor residents, the North of England’s gas distributor, Northern Gas Networks, approached us in October to establish and implement a range of community gas connection projects.

The main aim is to offer an affordable fuel switching service to residents that currently spend disproportionate amounts of their income on heating their homes. Residents using inefficient electric storage heaters will be one of the main target groups.

Although the project is very much in its infancy, we have already located several vulnerable communities that could benefit from gas connections and financial support under the Fuel Poverty Network Extension Scheme.

Over the coming months we will be rolling out the initiative and helping eligible residents access a range of support including ECO grants and the Central Heating Fund.

Having managed SGN’s Help to Heat programme in Scotland and the South East since 2012, we have built up considerable experience in assisting eligible residents for funded gas connections. We are well placed to support Northern Gas Networks’ fuel poverty work and help hundreds of residents slash their fuel bills, keep warm and improve their overall quality of life.
