The Citizens Advice project named Warm and Well aims to reduce the number of cold homes in North Yorkshire, keeping residents warm and protecting the most vulnerable households to minimise unnecessary winter deaths.
YES Energy Solutions is a West Yorkshire Community Interest Company on a mission to reduce the effects of high energy bills and cold homes.
Citizens Advice will be able to refer residents into YES Energy Solutions’ team to access the latest funding in the area, such as the North Yorkshire Home Efficiency Fund which has helped over 180 households with fully funded home upgrades.
Retired Bedale resident, Gordon Parker 80, had solar panels and loft insulation installed in February 2023 through the North Yorkshire Home Efficiency Fund.
Gordon said: “I’m so glad we qualified, with the insulation we felt the difference straight away – now the heat goes around the whole house, even the bedrooms have warmed up. It’s been absolutely brilliant.”
Those looking for support from the Warm and Well project can submit a referral for themselves, a relative, friend, or a client.
YES Energy Solutions will also refer their own customers back to Citizens Advice to access a range of support services.
Gillian Grimes from North Yorkshire Citizens Advice and Law Centre: "Working with our partners allows us to provide a comprehensive service to our community, offering practical, lasting solutions to minimise the effects of fuel poverty.
"Our partnership with YES means North Yorkshire residents can benefit from serious protection in the face of high energy bills and unpredictable weather by accessing funding to a range of energy efficiency improvements."
YES Energy Solutions CEO Duncan McCombie said: "We are incredibly proud to be working with the service, and we will no doubt see the impact of the Warm and Well project when the temperatures drop later this year.
"Accessing Warm and Well can be life-changing for those worried about energy.
"Our funding routes put up a shield against high energy prices, ensuring bills are lower and families are kept warm, without worrying about paying an arm and a leg for home improvements."
Interested residents are urged to get in touch, and are reminded that the online service is available 24/7 from Citizens Advice.
