Three more energy suppliers collapse due to gas price surge Sep 30, 2021

wholesale gas prices continue to soar

Following Avro Energy and Green three smaller energy suppliers go bust as wholesale gas prices continue to soar.

Ofgem has announced that Enstroga supplies, Symbio supplies and Igloo providers have all collapsed affecting thousands of customers.

Enstroga who supplies around 6,000, Symbio who supplies around 48,000 and Igloo who provides 179,000 domestic customers with gas and electricity represent less than 1% of the UK market, however this further solidifies the estimation that more companies will follow.

Ofgem who had previously announced in a press release once again assures that customers who have lost their gas supplier will be allocated an alternative provider.

“Ofgems number one priority is to protect customers.

“Ofgem will choose a new supplier for you and while we are doing this our advice is to wait until we appoint a new supplier and do not switch in the meantime.”

The blame on the surge of wholesale gas price has been placed on a number of factors such as a cold winter which left stocks depleted, high demand for liquefied natural gas from Asia and a reduction in supplies from Russia.

Merely a week ago there was a collapse of three much larger companies that effected nearly 830,00 customers.

This brought the total to nearly 1.5 million people who had been effected by the rising prices, all of which had to be provided with new energy suppliers.
