Price cap freeze before energy bill increase Aug 15, 2022

Energy price cap freeze

ScottishPower, E.ON and Labour have called for an energy price cap freeze before it climbs to around £3,500 a year in the coming months.

A recent idea pitched by ScottishPower and E.ON called for a special fund to be created that would be subsidised by loans from banks, allowing the price cap to be frozen.

The cap would be stopped at £1,971 for two years while the difference between the existing price cap and the wholesale price would be supported by the ‘deficit fund’.
