Katie Crossley - Gas Boiler Replacement

Single widowed mum of two, Katie Crossley was facing a winter with a completely broken boiler, but help from the Rossendale Affordable Warmth Scheme provided her with a fully funded boiler install.

“My heating had caput and I said to the kids you better wrap this is going to be character building, because I didn’t have the money to put into a new boiler,” said Katie.“I had tried to get help from funding before but I was told that I earned 38p too much, so the entire cost of the boiler would go straight to me.”

Katie and her sons aged 11 and 16, were referred on to Rossendale Borough Council and YES Energy Solutions.

“I spoke to Michaela and she was straight onto it, she was an absolute star. If I had the money I’d buy some flowers to take to her. I really do feel like she saved my life at the time.”

Katie’s A-rated gas boiler was installed the day before Christmas Eve, and she explained: “I was so pleased that the workmen were there, I couldn’t thank them enough. They were here exactly when they said and they were efficient.

Speaking about how warm the house is after her install Katie said:

“The Costa del Crossley we call it now! But it’s also the little things that make a difference, like turning the tap on and having hot water, not having to boil four kettles to wash the pots, it was a really low point in my life was that.

“I have already recommended YES Energy Solutions to two people, from the whole process on the day I rang to before Christmas Eve, I can’t thank you enough.”

Rossendale Borough Council’s Affordable Warmth Scheme provides funding for eligible residents in Rossendale to access home heating upgrades and insulation measures.

YES Energy Solutions are managing the scheme, and securing funding from the Energy Company Obligation (ECO) Scheme to combine with match funding from the council.
