Solar energy for Leeds' public buildings

YES Energy Solutions on behalf of Leeds City Council has installed large scale solar pv systems on seven public buildings.

Solar energy has many positives that will benefit Leeds such as being an excellent way to help reduce the operating costs of community centres through the provision of lighting, heating and hot water.

It is also a clear representation of sustainability and actions being taken to tackle climate change.

The buildings we upgraded with solar energy have a large range from leisure and sports centres such as John Smeaton Leisure Centre to Libraries, Children’s homes and even Leeds Museum Discovery Centre, we aimed to improve energy efficiency and sustainability no matter the building.

Following the installations an aerial photographer was commissioned to fly a drone above each system and record video footage to check for any maintenance issues, which helped us to highlight any inefficiencies and how o fix them.
