Retiree John Botham
from Malton received a gas central heating system for free as part of the North
Yorkshire Warm Homes Fund scheme.
The 66-year-old’s heating prior to the install was
inefficient and costly, with him relying on just one electric storage heater.
John explained: “Before this system was installed all I had was an electric
heater in my living room and that was it.
“It was obviously cold in here, and I’m retired so being at home
I had to put the heater on full all day and the house only got warm by the time
it was ready to go to bed at night.
John, who rents privately, heard about the scheme after receiving a letter from Ryedale District Council and got in touch
with YES Energy Solutions who manage the scheme.
John said: “I replied to the letter but I didn’t know what
to expect, I was so happy the job was fully funded.
“Now with the central heating it’s great and warms up
nicely. It should really save me money and be good for me.
YES Energy Solutions use their network of accredited installers to complete installs in the North Yorkshire Warm Homes Fund scheme.
“The engineers were good, and I used to be a plumbers mate
so I know what I’m talking about.”
