You can now get paid by the Government for investing in a renewable heating system.
Through the Domestic Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI), homeowners across the UK that get solar thermal panels, biomass boilers or heat pumps installed in their homes, can now claim quarterly payments for next 7 years.
This pioneering scheme rewards residents for using renewable energy as an effective alternative to gas and oil. This is of particular benefit to homeowners that live off the mains gas grid.
Not only will you save money by using renewable heat, but get paid for the privilege!
Say YES to renewable heat
YES Energy Solutions can help you access the Domestic RHI and choose a renewable heating system that is ideal for your property and life style.
Before your renewable heating system is installed, you must get a Green Deal Assessment carried out. As part of this assessment you will be issued an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC)* which will indicate how much heat your system is likely to generate each year.
This estimation is then used to calculate how much money you will be paid per quarter for using renewable heat over the next 7 years.
*Please note that if any home insulation measures (e.g. cavity wall insulation) are recommended on your EPC, then these will need to be installed prior to your renewable heating system for you to claim your RHI payment.
Current Domestic RHI Tariffs
The table below shows the current tariffs for each renewable heat technology. Rates are set by Government and are subject to change depending on the scheme’s popularity.
Once you have registered on the scheme you will stay on the same tariff for the next 7 years. The only change will be for annual adjustment, which brings your payments in line with the Consumer Price Index (CPI). This is announced on the 1st of April each year.

The Domestic RHI works on estimated outputs to ensure that homeowners do not waste heat unnecessarily. You will be paid for every unit (kilowatt hour) of renewable heat that your system is ‘predicted’ to produce. This figure will be detailed on your EPC.
Alternatively, if your system is connected to a meter, you will be paid against quarterly meter readings up to a capped amount as indicated in your EPC.

How to join the Domestic RHI
You can apply for the Domestic RHI within 12 months of the commissioning date of your renewable heating system. This date will be written on your MCS certificate once your system has been installed.
When registering your details, you will be asked to provide the following information:
The MCS certificate number for your renewable heating system.
Your Green Deal Advice Report (GDAR) number.
Your EPC number.
Your bank details so that they can set up your payment
All applications are made through Ofgem (the energy industry regulators)
