Top Energy Saving Tips

Much of the energy we use in our homes is needlessly wasted. As the cost of fuel continues to rise, it is now more important than ever to be energy efficient.

It makes sense...we save energy to save money!

Everybody can make changes around the home to be more energy efficient and it needn’t cost the earth. Some of these changes will cost you nothing to implement.

What’s more, thanks to funding from Government projects such as the Green Deal and Energy Company Obligation (ECO) scheme, you could find that you’re eligible for funding.

Top energy saving tips:

  • Reduce your room thermostat by one degree. This will make more of a saving than you think and you probably won’t even notice the difference.
  • Drop your washing machine temperature to between 30 - 40°c rather than putting it on a hotter cycle. Your clothes will still be clean and you will save money.
  • Air dry your laundry rather than tumble dry. Just think, when you use an electric dryer you're losing money.
  • Compare gas and electricity prices to make sure that you are paying the cheapest tariff. Use websites like USwitch and Compare the Market for the most competitive tariffs in your area.
  • Switch to direct debit to pay your energy bills. You could get up to 10% off! Most Energy Providers favour monthly instalments as they know they are guaranteed regular payments.
