New guidance for electricians

New guidance for electricians

The 18th edition of the IET wiring regulations is live and is an essential qualification for anyone working in the electrical industry.

The 18th Edition, issued on 2nd July 2018, is the very latest update to the wiring regulations, and the design of all new electrical installations will be required to comply with the 18th Edition from January 2019.

The publication includes subtle changes to current regulations, some new regulations and the removal of some existing regulations.

The introduction of new devices – arc fault detection devices (AFDD) – can provide an additional level of electrical safety from faults and are expected to be widely adopted across the industry.

Existing installations that were installed in compliance with earlier editions of regulations will not be effected, and this does not mean that they are unsafe for continued use or require upgrading.
