Green Deal Home Improvement Fund (GDHIF)

The Green Deal Home Improvement Fund (GDHIF) was a Government scheme that provided cashback to homeowners that invested in certain energy efficiency upgrades.

Despite its popularity, the scheme was closed by the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) on the 23rd July 2015.

Residents from England and Wales that joined the programme were issued with a cashback voucher - valid for six months - which they could redeem once their installation had been completed by a Green Deal approved installer.

Phase 3 of GDHIF closed on the 26th March 2015.

GDHIF Phase 3 Cashback Rates

Homeowners that join phase 3 of GDHIF were offered:

• Up to £3,750 cashback for installing solid wall insulation

And / Or:

• Up to £1,250 cashback for installing any two of the following improvements:

- Cavity wall insulation
- Condensing mains gas boiler
- Secondary glazing
- Double/triple glazing (replacement single glazing)
- Flat roof insulation
- Replacement warm air unit
- Fan-assisted storage heaters
- Energy efficient replacement doors
- Floor insulation
- Room-in-roof insulation
- Waste water heat recovery device

And:

• £100 refunded for home assessment costs

(e.g. to cover the expense of a Green Deal Advice Report if applicable)

• £500 Home Movers Bonus

A further £500 cashback for people who have bought a property in the last 12 months who get work carried out under the scheme.
